This book came to my attention via our Stop the Oppression of the British people petition.
The Australian author Evan Whitton writes for a legal journal Justinian and online at NetKnowledge. He has institaged an interesting petition asking the House of Representatives to implement a truth-seeking investigative system rather than continue with the current adversary system.

In an email exchange, Evan made the following points:
Judges and lawyers are one-fifth of one per cent of the population in common law countries. They do not believe that justice means truth.
Justice Russell Fix says the public [99.8%] know that “justice marches with the truth”.
Common law countries will change to a truth-seeking system when lawyers in legislatures learn to fear the public more than they love the anti-truth system.
Re the arms race:
In a Justinian column (Feb 11, 2010) I noted that in JFK and the Unspeakable (Orbis, 2008), Jim Douglass nominated the people who run the US as being a cabal of big business, big banks, big armaments makers, big military, big law, and big media, with the Central Intelligence Agency doing their dirty work round the world, and that the cabal’s marching song, as Richard Condon did not quite say, appears to be:
Profit is the key to life;
Profit is the clue;
Profit is the drum and fife;
And any war will do.
Re change of the legal system:
It is not impossible. As I note in Our Corrupt Legal System (pp. 267-268), we already use a truth-seeking system (often quite badly of course) for Royal Commissions, inquests etc.
The main thing will be to abolish the judge-lawyer cartel by training judges separately from lawyers, as they do in Europe.

Having just read this book despite the editing, suggest you read it portraying what goes on behind those doors the public never see!
